SIBMoz - Mozambique's Biodiversity Information System
This portal is integrated into the global information exchange network established under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), known as the Clearing House Mechanism (CHM). Its primary goal is to offer pertinent information on national biodiversity, fostering technical and scientific collaboration, facilitating knowledge sharing, and supporting the exchange of information. The portal aims to streamline decision-making processes and promote the sustainable utilization of biodiversity within the country.
The portal is hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries and was developed between 2021 and 2022 through a partnership between the National Directorate for the Environment, under the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries , the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), which developed the concept with support from USAID’s SPEED programme, and UNEP-WCMC, which financed the development of the portal through the CONNECT project.
The web portal serves as a central hub for technical information, policies, strategies, the legal framework, and partners involved in biodiversity initiatives. Users can access a variety of resources, including reports, published documents, databases, interactive maps, photographs, and more. SIBMOZ fosters connections with diverse complementary platforms from various partners, making it a comprehensive portal for validated biodiversity information in the country.
